New Offering for Ages 8-13!
Launched in Spring 2026, the Music Academy Violin Choir offers young violinists ages 8-13 the opportunity to develop their musicianship through ensemble playing, collaboration, and focused group instruction.
The program is especially well suited for students who may not have access to an orchestra program at school, as well as those looking to deepen their musical skills and gain experience performing as part of an ensemble. Students will strengthen their listening, rhythm, and ensemble awareness while developing the confidence and discipline that come from making music together.
The Fall 2026 session begins September 13! Led by TMA violin instructors Luvy Marquez-Schmidt and Delia Ceres, classes will meet Sunday afternoons from 3:00–4:00 PM in the Beethoven Room at The Music Academy. The session will culminate in a Recital on the final day, giving students the opportunity to share their work with family and friends.

Violin Choir will meet for 10 consecutive weeks on Sunday afternoons from 3:00-4:00pm in the Beethoven Room at The Music Academy.
September 13 — Class 1
September 20 — Class 2
September 27 — Class 3
October 4 — Class 4
October 11 — Class 5
October 18 — Class 6
October 25 — Class 7
November 1 — Class 8
November 8 — Class 9
November 15 — Final Class, followed by a Recital

Tuition:
$155 for TMA Students currently enrolled with private violin lessons
$250 for Non-TMA Students studying violin outside of The Music Academy
Prices include cost of course materials; students must bring violin to each class.
Notes:
Payment in full is due upon registration. Payment is non-refundable as it reserves your spot in the class.
A minimum enrollment of 5 students must be reached in order for the class to run. In the unlikely case that the minimum is not met, a refund will be issued to registered participants.

Luvyana Marquez-Schmidt, violin
Luvyana Marquez-Schmidt, violin
Luvyana Marquez-Schmidt is a Latina violist, educator, and arts administrator who is passionate about using music to connect with others and build more inclusive communities. She is currently pursuing a Masters of Music in Viola Performance at Penn State, where she also serves as a Teaching Graduate Assistant. Luvyana earned her Bachelors of Music in Viola Performance from the University of Michigan in 2025, along with a minor in Performing Arts Management and Entrepreneurship.
As a performer, Luvyana has appeared with ensembles such as the Michigan Philharmonic and the Adrian Symphony Orchestra, and has collaborated with celebrated artists including Wynton Marsalis. She is also an alum of The Sphinx Performance Academy at Curtis and the Cleveland Institute of Music.
Teaching has been a central part of Luvyana's work since 2018, when she began building her private violin and viola studio. She enjoys helping students of all ages grow as musicians while developing confidence, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for music.
In addition to performing and teaching, Luvyana is deeply involved in arts administration. She has contributed to organizations such as the Heifetz Institute and Chamber Music at the Scarab Club through administrative and marketing roles. Through her work as a performer, teacher, and administrator she aims to create meaningful connections and inspire others through the power of music.
Cordelia-Marie Ceres, violin
Cordelia-Marie Ceres, violin
Cordelia-Marie Ceres (violin) earned her Bachelor of Music (B.M.) in Violin Performance at Penn State under Dr. Max Zorin and is currently pursuing a Professional Performance Certificate, also at Penn State. Cordelia-Marie discovered her passion for music through her own experiences as a student in the Suzuki Method and has found a deeper appreciation for Suzuki by returning to the method from a teaching perspective. She has studied the Suzuki approach under Christie Felsing and has experience leading group classes and teaching lessons. She is excited to share the Suzuki philosophy with her own students. Outside of teaching, she works as a freelance musician, playing in various symphony and pit orchestras, weddings, and other venues.
