    The Language Academy: Summer 2011

The Language Academy provides opportunities for students of all ages to acquire facility in a foreign language or ESL during the entire year. Summer camps and intensive programs are especially beneficial for second-language acquisition, and this summer we are proud to offer special programs geared to children in Chinese and Spanish.

Our Spanish program has family classes for pre-schoolers with caregiver(s) and siblings led by native speakers with early childhood experience. The elementary camps, as well, are taught by teachers with elementary education qualifications. We are glad to form new programs appropriate to middle/high school and adult learners, by appointment. Please let us know how we can provide for your educational needs.

Our Chinese program, likewise, includes pre-school and elementary programs, offered for both first-language speakers and second-language learners. In addition, a daily Chinese intensive is offered (at only $11/class) for high-school students (both beginning and intermediate levels). Again, new sessions appropriate to other age-groups will be formed as requested.

The Language Academy is interested in promoting all world languages, and you can expect frequent up-dates in our programs. These will include, not only languages such as French, German, Italian, Latin, and ESL; but any language you may require. We will do our best to locate a qualified instructor for you!

    2011 Summer Rock Camp

    WEEK ONE - July 18-22 1:00-4:00 pm
    WEEK TWO - July 25-29 1:00-4:00 pm
Location: The Houserville House of Hope (United Methodist Church) 1320 Houserville Rd., State College, PA

The Music Academy's Summer Rock Camp is a week-long intensive program where students learn the "ins-and-outs" of rock & roll, blues, jazz, and other contemporary styles. The camp's emphasis is on ensemble playing--students will learn rock repertoire every day in a band of their peers, supported by Music Academy faculty, and will develop essential skills and knowledge in instrumental mechanics, improvisation, rock history, music theory, and music electronics. Each camp will close with an exciting concert featuring the students with Music Academy faculty and other professional musicians. School-age children (grades 1-12), all instruments, and all experience levels are welcome, so don't miss out on the opportunity to be a star in a full-fledged rock band!

"There is no doubt that the level that Marina has attained, coupled with her interest and enthusiasm, is due mainly to Mrs. Bernstein as her piano teacher. Thank you for providing such a wonderful environment".
