The Language Academy provides opportunities for students of all ages to acquire facility in a foreign language or ESL during the entire year. We are interested in promoting all world languages, and you can expect frequent up-dates in our programs. These will include, not only languages such as Chinese, French, German, Italian, Latin and ESL, but any language you may require. We will do our best to locate a qualified instructor for you!
Jenny Barton, French instructor: recently graduated from the University of Delaware with a master's in Foreign Language Pedagogy. She obtained her BA in French and International studies from Penn State, where she studied abroad twice. A State College native, Jenny loves art, singing, and playing games to encourage language acquisition. She is exciting about developing a dynamic and creative language curriculum both for children and adults. Expect everything from painting and clay work, to dancing and obstacle courses... but all in French!

Juliane Schicker, German instructor: is a native speaker of German. She graduated from the Otto-von-Guericke University in Magdeburg, Germany in 2008 with Masters Degree in English, German, and secondary education. After moving to the United States, she completed a Masters in German Literature at the Texas Tech University in 2009. She is currently studying for her Ph.D. in German Literature and Culture at the Pennsylvania State University and teaching German to undergraduates. Ms. Schicker has worked with children and adults of all ages and likes to combine her language skills with her musical interests. She sings in a local choir and small ensembles and plays the saxophone in a jazz band.
