This is a unique opportunity for developing ensemble skills in elementary-aged string players. With the aid of multiple instructors, students will be matched with others of similar level and encouraged to per form as soloists, in small groups (duo, trio, quartet, etc.), and in a comprehensive string orchestra setting. Repertoire includes works from the Renaissance to the present. A professional pianist provides support at every session, and supplementary drama activities guarantee a fun time for all!
Students from the public schools and privateteachers, in StateCollege and beyond, are welcome to become part of this exciting newensemble. Tuition fees have been waived (except for a $25 registration fee) thanks to a generous grant from the CentreCounty Community Foundation.

The String Camps are an opportunity to further refine important musical skills in an intensive program. The camps will be held for three weeks in July and will conclude with a concert on July 30th. 2:00-4:00 p.m.

A unique opportunity for children between the ages of five and eighteen to train, at no cost, in an ensemble setting with attention to solo vocal development. The instruction encourages small groups, according to level, as well as the experience of a large choral group.
Repertoire includes music from the medieval period to the present and emphasizes the major European languages. Supplementary drama and choreographic activities ensure that the learning experience is fun and rewarding for all. Tuition fees have been waived by a generous grant from the Centre County Community Foundation.

Group sessions take place 2:00 to 5:00 pm with private lessons scheduled 30 minutes before or after the group program. Many aspects of general musicianship will be addressed as well as the technical and expressive fundamentals of piano training. The course includes private and group lessons, technique, articulation, theory, keyboard harmony, sight-reading, accompaniment, singing, ear training, sight-singing, dictation, rudimentary composition and improvisation, music history, listening, and sport-stacking and movement activities for improving coordination.

The Music Academy’s Summer Rock Camp is a week long intensive program where students will learn the “ins & outs” of rock & roll, blues, jazz, and other contemporary styles. The camp’s emphasis is ensemble playing — students will get to learn and play tunes every day in a band of their peers and The Music Academy faculty, and will develop essential skills and knowledge in instrumental mechanics, improvisation, rock history, music theory, and music electronics. The camp will close with an exciting concert featuring The Music Academy faculty and other State College professional musicians. School-age students, all instruments, and all experience levels are welcome, so don’t miss out on the opportunity to see first hand what it’s like to be in a full-fledged rock band.
