Introduction to Computer Based Sound Recording

Provides an introduction to modern computer-based sound recording using Digidesign’s Pro Tools digital audio workstation (DAW) as the platform. Compatible with both Windows and Macintosh computers, Pro Tools is the most widely used DAW, and can be found in both home and professional studios. The course will provide an emphasis on real-world applications, and will go beyond merely the mechanics of using Pro Tools. Individual sessions with the instructor are available to students taking the course. The computer lab may also be reserved for individual use. Pro Tools 101 official text will be used as a reference guide. Apple’s Macintosh and OS X operating system will be the computer platform used for training. Computer experience is a highly recommended pre-requisite. Macintosh familiarity is a plus, but is not required.

Group Piano for Adults

Monday, 8:00-9:00pm

Piano basics, with no prior experience necessary. This course will provide a solid foundation in piano skills and includes notation, sight-reading skills, technique, scales, and triads.

Beginner Guitar for Youth (9-15 years)

Learn guitar basics: open chords and simple melodies, rhythms, pulse, strumming, staff reading, open position, tab reading, advanced chord knowledge.

Jazz Improvisation

Thursday, 4:30-5:30pm

Learn the basics of jazz improvisation. Presupposes an intermediate instrumental facility and basic knowledge of major and minor scales. Open to all instrumentalists. Topics to include the ii-v-I progression, the blues, developing and varying themes.

Adult Choir

Beautiful works of smaller scope...this year will feature works by Mozart and Stroope.

GROUP LESSONS FOR CHILDREN


Music Readiness

(ages 3 to 5)
Instructor: Brandy Davis
16 weeks / Tuition: $135
Tuesday, 2:00-2:45pm

Group experience for young children who are about to begin music lessons for the first time. Children with caregivers will sing, clap, and dance to a wide variety of music, including Suzuki Book One repertoire. Concepts of rhythm, melody, phrasing, and weight changes necessary for success in the early Suzuki repertoire will be emphasized.

Musical Theatre for Children/Children’s Choir

(grades 1-5)
Instructor: Carol Pharo
16 weeks / Tuition: $170/$100 (if enrolled in private or group lesson)
Tuesday, 3:45-4:45pm

This course emphasizes proper vocal development for the elementary-aged child and includes vocal exercise, ear training, notation fundamentals, part-singing, movement skills, and performance/presentation coaching. Repertoire consists of songs from 20th and 21st centuries, including Gershwin, Rodgers and Hammerstein and ballads from the Big Band Era. Many songs will be choreographed.

Musicianship Group Classes for Traditional and Suzuki Students

Open to all instruments; intermediate reading and instrumental proficiency required.



A Two-Payment Option is available: tuition plus $15 divided in half.
