Provides an introduction to modern computer-based sound recording using Digidesign’s Pro Tools digital audio workstation (DAW) as the platform. Compatible with both Windows and Macintosh computers, Pro Tools is the most widely used DAW, and can be found in both home and professional studios. The course will provide an emphasis on real-world applications, and will go beyond merely the mechanics of using Pro Tools. Individual sessions with the instructor are available to students taking the course. The computer lab may also be reserved for individual use. Pro Tools 101 official text will be used as a reference guide. Apple’s Macintosh and OS X operating system will be the computer platform used for training. Computer experience is a highly recommended pre-requisite. Macintosh familiarity is a plus, but is not required.
