This is a unique opportunity for developing ensemble skills in young string players and guitarists, grades 4-8. With the aid of multiple instructors, students will be matched with others of similar level and encouraged to perform as soloists, in small groups (duo, trio, quartet, etc.), and in a comprehensive string orchestra setting. Repertoire includes works from the Renaissance to the present. A professional pianist provides support at every session, and supplementary drama activities guarantee a fun time for all!
Students from other schools and private teachers, in State College and beyond, are welcome to become part of this exciting new ensemble.
For children ages 6-12 years with a special interest in vocal music (participation is by instructor approval). This is a course in class vocal instruction, with a repertoire extending from the medieval period to the present day. Ear training and sight singing are emphasized, as are the major European vocal languages: English, French, German, Italian, and Latin.

These two ensembles are open to all students in grades 4-8 who play the flute or the clarinet. The choirs provide an opportunity for students to study a varied repertoire and to improve their musical skills within an ensemble setting.

This is a unique opportunity for children between the ages of five and eighteen to train in an ensemble setting with attention to solo vocal development. The instruction encourages small groups, according to level, as well as the experience of a large choral group.
Repertoire includes music from the medieval period to the present and emphasizes the major European languages. Supplementary drama and choreographic activities ensure that the learning experience is fun and rewarding for all. This program is supported in part through Centre County Community Foundation.

A new class designed to meet a need in the community for affordable beginner violin instruction. Students will be taught the fundamentals of violin technique along with music notation. The class will continue from the Fall into the Spring Semester, after which students will be prepared for second-year group instruction and/or transitioning into private lessons.
Each course requires attendance three times a week. Our expectation is that most of the learning will take place in class. Home practice or parental monitoring is not required.
