CLASSES

Music and dance from the Renaissance and Baroque periods are explored in this course open to adults and motivated teens. No prior training is required: dancers, musicians, those without specialized dance/music training, and auditors are all welcome. The course will include dance notation, movement technique, dance accompaniment, and early music performance practices — all within a historical context. Classes will be held for sixteen weeks during both Fall and Spring Semesters on Tuesday evenings from 7:30-8:30 at the State College Friends School, 1900 University Drive, State College

ENSEMBLES

Historical Chant Group is an experimental vocal ensemble singing from facsimiles of original source manuscripts dating from the 9th and 10th centuries. Open to adult students and professionals, the course will be held for 16 weeks. The course will be held sixteen weeks during both Fall and Spring Semesters.

Period Instrument Consort (Performing Ensemble in Residence) Members play, lecture and give demonstrations using the schools’ collection of period viola da gambas. The Ensemble is open to area professional and experienced amateur musicians. Lectures, concerts and workshops are open to school members and the public. The consort will meet for sixteen weeks during both Fall and Spring Semesters on Tuesday evenings from 8:30 to 9:30 pm at the State College Friends School.
